11001-27505 Plastic six-pack rings or 'yokes', are made from low-density polyethylene (LDPE) which has a density lighter than water. They float on the ocean surface, and are easily moved by wind - they are literally built to travel. Thousands of ocean going birds, turtles, marine mammals, and other wildlife are killed every year by discarded 6-pack rings. Young animals get entrapped and as they grow, the plastic cuts into their flesh. This dead blue penguin (Eudyptula minor) was from Allan's Beach, Otago Peninsula *

11002-40122 NZ Furseal (Arctocephalus forsteri) large fur seals can take you by surprise when wandering along the shore - they blend in so well with the rocks. Here a well camouflaged bull, basks in the sun amongst the rocks at Red Rocks on the Wellington Coast *
