DSC_1345 White brachiopod or papa nui (Liothyrella neozelanica) with ciliated lophophores clearly visible during filter feeding. The cilia create a current which brings food onto the lophophore from which it is removed and passed to the mouth. This is our largest brachiopod, it can be found in high densities on the near vertical walls of Fiordlands fiords. Doubtful Sound, Fiordland *
