DSC_9595 Encrusted limpet, or ruharu (Patellioda corticata) seen here returning to its home 'scar'. Found on surfaces encrusted with coralline algae in the mid- to low intertidal on exposed to very exposed shores. Patellioda shells are very similar to Siphonaria shells but if you push Siphonaria limpets they 'wiggle', because they cannot pull their whole body inside the shell. Quarantine Point, Otago Harbour *
