DSC_7442 Arabic volute, or pupu rore (Alcithoe arabica) typical shell from northerly sheltered locations, showing strong nodules on the shoulder - this one occupied by a hermit crab. Common on all soft substrates from sheltered mudflats to open ocean beaches from low tide zone to 100 m depth. Prefers deeper water in more open locations. Goat Island Marine Reserve, Leigh.
