DSC_9504 'Sea centipede' (Perinereis amblyodonta) blue mature female. A familiar NZ member of the family Nereididae. When removed from hiding, it may throw itself into such violent contractions, it's body may break into sections. Found widely in the mid to low intertidal rocky shore, where it insinuates itself into narrow crevices, or beneath clusters of shelled animals.
