DSC_5581 Oyster blenny (Omobranchus anolius) male. Introduced. Hides mainly in dead oyster shells, but also under boulders in the intertidal areas of estuaries and sheltered harbours. First discovered in areas east of Auckland around 2003, they probably arrived in ships ballast from Australia, where they are endemic. Probably still expanding their range.
