DSC_9863 Southern olive snail, or tikoaka (Amalda australis) this snail usually 'ploughs' through sand just below the surface, but leaving an obvious trail, and with the siphon extended above the substrate. When foraging, as seen here, the whitish speckled animal partly encloses the shell leaving only the back and spire of the shell visible. Snell's Beach
