DSC_1772 Pohutukawa (Metrosideros excelsa) a descendant of two yellow flowered pohutukawa trees discovered in 1840 on Motiti Island, off Tauranga in the Bay of Plenty. Seedlings were first offered for sale in a 1947 by Duncan & Davies Nursery. For many years the nursery only produced plants from seed, but all seedlings remained relatively true to type and produced yellow flowers. Portobello, Otago Harbour *
