DSC_1362 Native bee (Leioproctus boltoni) seems to be one of the most widespread, and abundant native bee throughout New Zealand. Occuring from sea level to 1050m, and wherever its favoured native host flowers - manuka and kanuka - are found, so pollen and nectar are present in most areas. However this species has also been recorded on Carmichaelia, 5 other native, and 5 introduced species, so there is some plasticity in pollen collecting behaviour. Dunedin , Otago *
