11004-08010 Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) large male with well developed 'kype'. A landlocked population of this species once existed in Lake Fergus, Southland. This individual, was hatchery raised from eggs collected from the last known redd of a wild pair of salmon at the outlet of Lake Gunn in the 1960's. This individual died after the Christchurch earthquake, and the species is now considered extinct in New Zealand *
